Re: UNDERDOWN/AUGHE, Neb. 1900
Obituary -The Nebraska State Journal, 26 Mar 1944, pg. 3-B
Mrs. Della May Aulger, 50, died late Saturday at her home, 1128 J.Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Jennie Turpin, Lincoln; three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Hurst and Mrs. Merle Strasheim, both of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Arlyne McCabe, Springfield, O,; a son, Edgar H. Underdown, Los Angeles; two brothers, Herman Aughe, Lincoln and Frederick Aughe, Ashland; a sister, Mrs. Stella Gregory, Wauneta; two step daughters, Mrs. Iola Gregory, Norfolk, VA., and Mrs. Eva Boden, Omaha; three stepsons, Aulton Aulger, El Cajon, Cal.; Samuel Aulger, Portland, Ore., and S.2/c Alvin Aulger, in the Pacific area.
Della was the daughter of Robinson (Robertson) Aughe.I think her obituary clearly states that she had a brother named Herman.Della married William Underdown who was killed in 1914 and 2) Joseph Aulger, who preceded her in death. Her daughter Gladys Underdown married 1)William Henry Pace and 2)Haven W. Hurst.
As for the parents of Robinson Aughe, the 1860 and 1870 censuses list a Robinson Aughe as the son of Jacob and Francis Aughe. If I'm not mistaken, there's a general concensus that holds that Francis's maiden name was Wollcot.
