Re: UNDERDOWN/AUGHE, Neb. 1900
In the 1900 census for Buckley, Jefferson Co., NE, there is a Herman Aughe, age 18, who is boarding with (it looks like), Ferdinand Riddle, and family (including a Nellie).Herman is listed as farm labor.
In the 1910 census for Rose Creek, Thayer Co., NE, there is listed at #55:
Herman W. AugheHead M W 28 Mar#1-9yr. NE NE IA Farmer
Nellie E.Wife F F 35 Mar#1-5/4NE IN PA
Wilber H.SonM W 7S.NE NE NE
Tommy F.L.SonM W 5S.NE NE NE
Vern W.SonM W 4S.NE NE NE
Faye G.DauF W 2S.NE NE NE
Riddle, Herald Bro-i-law M W 19 S.KS IN PA Farmer
I do think you're on the right track with the line.I also show the parents of Jacob Aughe who married Francis Wallcot to be Jacob and Lydia Jeffries Aughe.I haven't gone back any farther than that because this isn't a main line of ascent for me.My grandfather was married to Gladys Underdown, Robinson Aughe's granddaughter, and they later divorced, but not before they had a son together. He died at the age of ten.My dad never knew what happened to his half-brother and I had the unhappy task of telling him that there wouldn't be a family reunion.
I hope this helps a little, and I wish you well on your research.
