Re: Theresa Unsel daughter of John & Johanna
Do you know the date/ship/port of entry of Theresa Unsel's parents when they arrived from arrived from Germany? Were there any other siblings of Theresa's parents? Do they have naturalization papers in MINNESOTA?Most of the Unsels in the US are decended from the one who arrived in 1733 but I don't believe my Baltus Unsel aka Balthasar Unseld is linked to them. There was a Michael UNSELD who arrived in Philadelphia in 1759 whom we could have a link to.All the UNSELDs seem to be from Wuertemberg, however. My Baltus -my gggf- married an immigrant woman from Germany so there is a good chance he was an immigrant also. Since your Unsel went to one of the northern states, as mine did (upstate NY), they could be from the same family/group of immigrants. The first date we have for Baltus and his wife Catherine Zimmerman was the birth of their first child in 1855/56 in Utica, NY.He was killed in 1860 and we don't have any other info. His children were John, Michael-died young,Mary who married a Lawrence Beck, Balthasar who died as an infant. Have you looked up the Unselds in the familysearch.org (LDS library)?
They list many, many Unselds and related surnames-Durr, Speth, and many others.
They have Balthasars listed but I can't figure if one belongs to our family. Can't find any immigration lists.
Could there be a link?
