I descend from Thomas Urie (b.1718), sister of Nancy Urie Boyd.I come down through Solomon (b. Bedford Co., PA 1769), then his son Samuel (b. 1791 in Washington Co., PA), then his daughter Rachel (b. 1835 Richland Co.-now Ashland Co.)In book Tuscarawas Valley in Ind. Days 1750-1797 by Russel Booth, Jr.(p. 39) Narrative of prisoner John McCullough "On our way 2 of the prisoners made their escape, to wit; one Rhoda Boyd & Elizabeth Studibaker, & went back to the Indians.I never heard whether they were ever brought back or not. There were about 200 of -- we were kept a few days in Pittsburgh."At end of book on p. 288 is a list of the captives released to Col Bouquet & among the names are those of Sarah Boyd & Thomas Boyd. The list was taken from The Western PA Historical Mag., vol. 39 (1956) pp 199-202.I have also seen the diarama in the museum at the reconstructed old Roscoe Village in Coshocton, OH.This diarama is of the return of captives which supposedly occurred right at that spot.Of all the prisoners released, only 2 names are given & one is Rhoda Boyd because she one day came back to live in this area.Georgia
