Re: Utley surname

According to my Utley family history, Samuel Utley came from Liverpool, England with the Huntingtons about 1643 and settled in Stonington, CT.On Dec 6, 1648, in Scituate, Mass he married Hannah Hatch.Samuel Utley was admitted a Freeman in 1657.
Samuel Utley 3rd, grandson of Samuel and Hannah had 4 sons:John, Elijah, Samuel and David.The descendants of Elijah and Samuel moved to New York State.Dvid moved to the eastern part of the state and than to western NY.
My branch was John who had five sons.In 1800 he moved with three of his sons, Henry, Issac and John 2nd to Leyden, NY.
I believe the name of the town you are looking for is Lowville, NY.This is in Central NY.My branch of the family settled in Onedia County, which is just southeast of Lowville.
