We are out here in the Pacific Northwest. Washington State. Right now the weather is wet.We get a lot of rain in the winter which I guess is why the place stays so green. We do get snow but, like you, not usually a lot and it generally doesn't stay around long..thank goodness. We have had times when we've had a LOT of snow but consider that a bit unusual. Our temps stay pretty mild for the most part. We are, however, about 40 miles from Mt.Rainier which is an ancient volcano. It hasn't erupted in over 5000 years tho so we're not too worried about it doing that any time soon. ...besides we live on a hill and lava doesn't flow real well uphill. They do have a ton of monitoring stuff on the Mt...so if it ever did decide to do anything nasty, we'd have warning.Orting, a town to the east of us is built on an ancient lava flow and would be pretty much in the path of an eruption. Consequently they have developed an evacuation plan for the town and actually have drills wherein they put all the school children on buses and transport them to "safety".They can get all the kids out of that town in a very short time.

I did tell you didn't I that Capt Utley's lineage goes back to 1648 in this country?
