Utley/Uttley DNA Project

Male Utley/Uttleys that wish to track their extended family history using Y-DNA matching are encouraged to write to me here in the US or our project leader, John Uttley ([email protected]) in the UK. The test is run through Family Tree, the producer of the well-known genealogical software and website of the same name. The thesis of the project is that the Utley/Uttley surname is descended from a single man, a John Utley of Heptonstall, Yorkshire c. 1350, as detailed in the book, House of Uttley, by John and Eileen Huckle. To date we have had seven participants showing varying degrees of relationship, depending on the date of their direct-line ancestor's departure from the Heptonstall area.
