Circa 1890s photo of Charles Frank Vale (1870-)
I purchased the subject undated studio portrait of a young man taken by Jay's, Paris, IL, identified on the back of the mount:
"C. F. Vale,
Kansas, Ill.
'Herald.' "
This individual appears in Public Member Trees posted on ancestry.com. He is listed in the 1900 Census data for Belvidere (resided at 226 West Locust Street), Boone Co., IL; and the 1910 Census data for Rockford (resided at 1035 West State Street), Winnebago Co., IL.
Charles Frank Vale, born Sep 1870 in IL, was the son of James E. Vale (1833-1902) and Angeline Metz (1836-1913). Charles married Florence Georganie Burroughs (1877-1935),The couple had two children: Grace Elizabeth Vale (1895-1976) and Lester Burroughs Vale (1897-1968).
Charles was employed as a newspaper printer. Perhaps this accounts for the spelling of his nickname "Herald."
