Phil,
Here is some info that may help. I can't say for sure he was born in Holland but I would say he was almost surely born in New York. I know little of his wife, only following info. Do you know what became of all of their children?
Russ
Abram VanDelinder married Betsy Chapman as documented in War of 1812 pension files WO8631 (10th or 13th of September 1813 per Betsy) and subsequently WC13795 (September 1813 per Phoebe (Chapman) Ingalls – Betsy’s sister). Abram also received BLW 18578-160-55. Their marriage is easily documented.
As for children of Abram (as he signed his own name) and Betsy, the 1865 state census of Granby, Oswego, NY page 21 1st e.d., lists Betsy as a widow and mother of 8 children. Exactly who these 8 children are is another question because Abram did not have a will to my knowledge. Also, I do not have an exact date of death for Betsy but have looked for an obit in entire year of 1890 and could not find one. I have tentatively listed this John as a possible sibling in addition to John Chapman, who is definitely a son. He may fit in the St. Lawrence family listed below but the different spelling of the name is puzzling. There are many John VanDelinders / VanOlinda’s that could fit. Hard to tell because the family is so large and moved around a great deal.
