Van Epps - Holland, NY, Iowa
Taken from the History of Clinton Co., Iowa 1879
John V. Van Epps, farmer, of Camanche, was born in Montgomery Co., NY in 1813 to John and Elizabeth (Veder) Van Epps.He came to Iowa in 1855. Catherine Smith, also of NY, became his wife in Montgomery Co., NY in April of 1834.
Children: Charles H., Margaret, John E., Lewis, Alden and Clarence.
John's paternal grandparents came from Holland at an early day, settling in NY state near what is now the village of Fultonville which sits on part of the land (1,800 acres) for which they received a patent from the English government. This ground has never gone out of the hands of the Van Epps family, as three of the fith generation now (1879) own and live on the greater part of it.
I have no connection to the Van Epps. Just offering info.
