Re: Frank/Percy Vanner England to Canada 1909 Bernardo Orphans
According to my records, Percy aged 11 and Frank aged 10, sailed on the Tunisian, arriving Canada 1909.Percy William's birth was registered in St. Saviour, Southwark, London in first quarter of 1898, Frank's in second quarter of 1899 again St. Saviour.I have reference nos. if you wish to order Birth Certificates. On the 1901 Census, the family were living at 11 Salisbury Buildings, Newington, Southwark.Family members were: Ellen K Vanner age 38 Washerwoman - born Isle of Wight (Married); Frederick (son) aged 15 - Van Guard, also b. IoW; Maud M. (daughter) age 13 b. Portsmouth; Nellie (d) age 12 b. Portsmouth; Ethel M. (d) age 8 b. London NK (sic); Albert E (s) age 10 b. London NK; Percy W (s) age 3 b. London NK; Kate E (d) age 5 b. London NK; Frank (s) age 2 born London NK.I have Census ref. no if required.Presumably "London NK" means not known, i.e., district.Ellen is shown as 'married' and not widowed at this time: perhaps her husband was working away or on a night shift somewhere.Do you know his name?
The fact that Ellen was born in the Isle of Wight suggests that her husband also came from there: there is a large Vanner contingent in IoW.So far I have been unable to locate them of the 1891 Census, but will have a further look when time available.Similar for 1881.
Is this helping?
