I was interested in your enquiry because I have quite a bit of information on this branch of the Vanners.It also has a fairly long and complete pedigree going back to the 16th century.Firstly, I will send you six extracts from the 1881 Census, which I think you will find of interest.Compulsory registration of births was supposed to occur from 1837, but I could not find an 1840 registration for James.It appears to me that you would most certainly have an Edmund in the family somewhere; this is a name that constantly occurs through time in this Vanner branch.
Anyway, start off by picking the bones out of these six extracts and let me know what you think.I’ll try and do a bit more research here for you.There is also a possibility that you may be related to George Vanner, who lives in Canada: we’ll try and pick this thread up at a later date.
