I am from William and Frances Sparks Vannoy's son Daniel to Nancy Theodosia Vannoy m Julius Slyvester Myers. My THEORY - REPEAT THEORY about Shadrack F aka Shunck is that he is the child Franklin living with Abner and Mary on the 1860 census. Mary would be either Daniel's daughter or daughter-in-law/NOT wife. Most people list her as wife with no evidence beyond this census which does not name relationship . If Frank is Shadrack Franklin, and William is the son of Abner, he would be William's nephew as indicated on the census that you reference. I can't find him after 1880.

At one point I found that William gifted land to Abner and a separate parcel to Mary / not likely if they were married (can't put my hands on it right now). This is justone reason that caused Sam Sebatian a genealogist from Wilkes to "assume" that William was most likely Abner's son. Neither Abner's children or wife have been named on any document I have ever found. From the census prior to 1850 on which he is not found and prior to 1860, we know he had other children. I have tried following various people of the Vannoy name of the appropriate age in Wilkes, but I haven't been able to backtrace any other Vannoys to Abner.

If you have other evidence to prove or disprove, would love to know about it. This seems to be a good working theory for me though.
