Thanks for the reply.I believe we have good information from Nicholas (1771-1840), married to Nancy Hiller: parents of Jacob, etc. and on down.I have been trying to learn the connections before that Nicholas - which is where all the questions appear to lie.
Sarah Carter's book is thought by some not to be correct - in that the earlier Nicholas she found may not have been the one in South Carolina. My father remembered that his grancfather, Jeter said he was descended from Nicholas and Isaac.Other records noted that George was the father of Nicholas (1771-1840) and his father was Nicholas, son of Isaac Vincent, son of Johannes VanZandt (1657).
Now, I have found record (on the web) that in 1758, a William Mitchusson bought a 500 acre plantation on the Broad River at Terrible Creek from George Vansant of Berkley Co. SC, said to be the eldest son of Nicholas Vansant who had received the original land grant.George then apparently moved to Lexington County where the story picks up for the information we all seem to have.
I do not have any other substantiating information, but continue to look and that is why I thought you may have found more.
There is a lineage by Amy VanSant-Young on RootsWeb that places George between the 2 Nicholas'.
