Addendum to my previous postings:Science seems to change things.I am a descendent of William Jeter VanSant, son of Jacob VanSant (b. 1798), son of Nicholas (b. abt 1771) who married Nancy Hiller. They lived in South Carolina and most of the record from there to now seems to be OK.The problem has been linking back to the earlier folks.Sara Carter and most of the printed data I found tended to go back to Adam Wensel VanSandt through his son Johannes. Some thought through his son Bernardus and some thought Isaac.
However, as the last male in my family line, I thought I would take the DNA route to firm up the question.I was surprised to find I did not match with any of the proven links to Johannes, but matched most closely to the Gerret Stoffelse VanSant line (the Bucks Co line).Does anyone have any information that may help link the South Carolina group back to PA ???We must have come from somewhere.
My father remembered that his great aunt Orpha had told him that Jeter was a son of Nicholas and Nicholas was a son of Isaac. However, I can find several Nicholas and Jacob names in the Gerret Stoffelese line, but so far, no Isaac and no real possible connections.
