I want to supplement my previous post on Catherine VS Cropsey:
Court Van Sicklen, son of Cornelius Van Sicklen and his second wife Catherine Johnson, was born 9 May 1781 at Wappinger's Falls, New York, baptized 10 February 1783, Hopewell Reformed Dutch Church, New York [Worden 190], married Catherine Johnson, tentatively identified as Catherine Johnson, daughter of Hendrick Jansen and Elizabeth Van Brunt. This appears to be the Court Van Sicklen, born "9 May 1782 (sic), died 17 August 1868" buried with Catherine Johnson, "wife of Court Van Sicklin," born 26 October 1785, died 11 May 1859 [Gravesend Inscriptions:Frost(1914)].
In an article penned by Mr. Richard P. Baldwin and appearing in the Suffolk County Historical Society Register [Vol. XIV. 1988], it is noted that Court Van Sicklen was first a grocer and innkeeper in Gravesend, Kings County, Long Island, but ultimately removed to Coney Island where he "established the first hotel in that section." [Baldwin cites Ross's A History of Long Island, New York, Vol. III:135-137. (1903)].
