Your Sarah is the daughter of John Van Swearingen (b.1772 d.Aug 14 1846) and wife Martha Chapman (b.1775 d.Jan 4 1861). Both died in Beaver Co., PA. John was born in Prince George's Co., Maryland the son of Samuel Swearingen and Catherine Condell. Samuel being the son of John Swearingen and Mary Ray, heads of branch 4 of the Swearingen family. Don't ask me why some members of the family kept the Van part of the name and others didn't because I just don't know. Two of John Van's five sons used the Van and the others did not. I have never found a record of John (b.1695-1696) using the Van nor have I ever found a record of his son Samuel using it. John was the only one of Samuel's sons to use it. I have found this same scenario in the branch 2 Swearingens, occasionally the van "pops up" there also.
