Rosa, Heron Velazco here. I am glad that so much people have started talking about the velasco line. I received information from my sister, she spoke to my uncle Lauro Velasco still living in Reynosa that his grandfather's name was Manuel velasco or (de Velasco), and that they were from Jalisco originaly.
I am posting this online so that our people can look at this and maybe fill in the blanks. I only have bits and pieces, but I know there is a lot of other people outhere that also have bits and pieces. I have my Geneology tree in this site and urge everybody to look at it, I think I have a good piece put together but there is so much more to add to it.
For what I have read on the forum it looks like we are all linked to Jamay Jalisco. I will add a few more strings to the puzzle by adding the following. The first of our Velasco's arrived in Tamaulipas from Jalisco and that he, ( or them) settled in the area of Congregacion Garza, also known as the Charco Escondido, and that his mother and father died and him and his sister were raised by family members. As far as how many more arrived with him I don't know. But one thing I do Know, because it always got mentioned in family conversations. That the family first came from Cantabria Espana. If anybody would do a search of the area, there are towns names similar to what we have in the northern part of Mexico, specificaly in the Tamaulipas region. it seems to concentrate in the area of the mountanous region of Santander Espana.
I really hope there is enough of us willing to participate in this quest.
