Leanne,

My Verba family came to NYC in 1885.My g-grandfather's name was Alois Verba.

The name in the Czech Republic is Vrba and means willow tree

When the Germans had rule over the country, the spelling was changed to Wrba.So try both deviations when searching.I found Alois as a 'Wrba".The name was changed back to Vrba in the USA.When my grandfather went to school, the 'e' was added for easier pronounciation.

Good luck in your search.
