The area of Sunk Island appears to go back to Charles I period so possible your family did end up there.
However,I doubt whether it would be the VICKERMAN side.I have the extract from a book by Dr George Redmond (a respected West Yorkshire historian) on the origin of the surname.It's rather lengthy, so I'll mail it to you directly.
