Re: Villyard family info.
I responded to a message dated 1-8-01 re: your question about your grandmothers family earlier than Robert Cleophus Villyard.Did you get two messages yesterday?Because I sent along some info. re: Robert C.'s parentage. If you didn't get it, I'll repeat: My father, John Alton (who is,I think, Vie's nephew, and cousin to your mother--Robert C. was his grandfather--) has information that Robert C's mother bore him "out-of-wedlock" and did not give the child the father's name, one Robert Andoe--who was married--scandalous, eh?! We, too have had no success in finding out who Robert's mother was--its as if all roads dead end at him. I suppose because then such an event was so socially unacceptable nobody talked about it. Daddy doesn't remember any talk of her at all.
I am so intrigued with her, though, that I am still trying to figure out some way to know who she was.I plan to get his death certificate just to see if, by chance, her name might have been placed on it--I'm told that sometimes the parents names are listed.
As to who I am, my grandfather, Daniel Hugh and your grandmother, Vie, were brother/sister.My dad, as I said earlier, is John Alton. So, I suppose we share great-grandparents, Robert C and Rhoda Annie. Kind of neat, isn't it?I live in Banks County, Ga. (my e-mail is firstname.lastname@example.org) Please feel free to send me a note.
Did you grow up in Gainesville? Where did you go to school?I went to high school at North Hall, then on to college from there.I will be 48 in December, are we in the same age group?
I'll let you know if/when I find out anything more.
Best Regards, Lynn
