The following people travelled on the barge Steinwarder, leaving Hamburg on 25 August 1855, and arriving at Port Adelaide on 19 December 1855 :
- Christian Ludwig August Voigt and Friedericke Wilhelmine Voigt (nee Schulz).
- August's sister Charlotte and her husband Friedrich Schmidt.
- August's younger brother Rudolph Voigt.

August and Charlotte's families (and perhaps Rudolph) in the first instance lived at Rosenthal (later renamed Rosedale, due to war-time persecution) in the Barossa Valley.In 1862, the Vogt and Schmidt families moved to Bethel (near Kapunda); those names are still well-known in the Kapunda district to this day.

Off-hand, I don't know exactly what became of Rudolph Voigt's family, but I can find out.Their family research has been underway for several years.A Vogt/Voigt research committee meets quarterly in and around Adelaide.The result will be a Vogt/Voigt/Schmidt history book, to be released next year - probably at the reunion.

I'm currently living in Germany, and have been successful at finding records in church books, for all of my ancestors *except* Voigt.Unfortunately, it seems that the church books in Parchen were destroyed in the war; the other ancestors all came from nearby towns - Güsen, Hohenseeden and Dretzel - where the books are all in hand.
