Re: Martha Walker Yandell b abt 1755 Mecklenburg Co NC
That John Walker was killed by Indians in 1778. From information I've read his widow Ann Houston/Hudson moved to North Carolina after John's death. John and Ann had a son, John, who married a Miss Long and had a son William captured by the Indians at the same time his uncle, (probably Samuel Walker), was killed. According to family legend my ancestor was one of three brother from Ireland, one of the brothers was killed by the Indians. My problem is, I don't know which generation, father or son, was the uncle of my ancestor. The Ireland part may have been confused over the years but it's unlikely the "killed by Indians" part was. John Walker had several brothers and I only know of one brother to Samuel.
Does anyone know of any other children of John and Miss Long? William's aunt, wife of one of the Cowan's, was captured by another party at the same time.
