Re: Walker's Iredell Co. NC
In the 1980's we had the last of the Walker Family Reunions. At that time Ed and Joanne Warnick were living in Newton, Jasper Co. IA. I saw he had died 1994 in Newton from the SS records. I have Ray and LeRoy as the other two. Most of my sources for the family was Lloyd Walker's widow Nellie and their children. Richard and Danny live in Delta, IA about 4 mile from me. Most of Geradine Hicklin's family lives around Oskaloosa and Dora Fowler's live around Sigourney but I don't know how well they keep up with the other families. Richard is probably the best one to contact. His health isn't real good but I think his mind is fine. I think he's living in the housing but will have to find out for you. Delta is only about a 400 population. Since you are a granddaughter I'm assuming you have all the information on Viola's children. I'd really like to have the names of her grandchildren for the family tree if you know them. In the mid-80's I painted a 4 x8 sheet of plywood and put all the descendants of Mary Ralls and Samuel walker on it. It was one of the high lights of the reunion. We had 8 generations down back then. I think the 8th generation at that time was George Stanton Walker's (your Will's brother) group. Since then there have been two added generations. Will's wife had a saying that I find very useful. She was very frugal and would say "Use it up, wear it out, make do or do without". I have to watch my grandchildren after school and during holidays. I find it a very usefull saying when they are careless or wasting things. My mother remembers them fairly well. She's the oldest in our branch now. My line is Calvin Delbert Walker. I can remember Aunt Rose Riggs and Aunt El Morrow. Uncle Jess lived in Lynnville and was still coming to reunions in the 50's as were most of the living ones. Belle Sarvis was one of my favorites, always laughing about something. I can't remember Howd or Ona. They may not have lived around close. Stant and Will died before my time. There was also the standard "Go play outside and don't bother us, we are talking" when I was young.
