Re: Harrison and Waples families
William Welsh Harrison I believe was a wealthy banker from Philidelphia who had the book be writen about his family. His mother was Sarah Ann Waples. Her parents were Nathaniel Waples and Lydia Lieb Riley. Nathaniels parents were SamualWaples and Ann Custis. Samual was a Col during the Revolutionary War (hero) who fought with Washington, at York, and was the brother in law to Martha Washington, Her first husband was John Custis, Ann's brother. As you may know, he (John) died young and George Washington raised his two children as his, as he and Martha had no children of their own. Samual was a hero and his story is included in the Harrison book. Nathaniel was quite wealthy, a world traveller, and his portrait along with Lydia hangs in the national Gallery in Washington.
I believe you can find the book in some better reference libraries and I also believe it is available on line if you are a memeber of Ancestry .com or one of those genealogy sites that allows access to other materials. I read it in the Carnegie Library in Pittsburgh.
It also include the other lines of the Waples familyand a lot of history, including the Burtons, Leahterbury, Fisher, Scarborough, Stockley etc families.
Hope that helps.
