Wabbleton-Warburton-Warbritton

I am descended from Warbrittons. I cannot find anyone of this name before 1830. There is speculation that the name was changed from Warburton, Wabbleton, Warbington to Warbritton during the war with the British either out of loyalty or otherwise.

My question is has anyone heard of name changes during the revolution or any other time concerning any of these names?
