Anna Bell Ward, 1919 New York

By Lori Bland August 18, 2003 at 07:59:21

I am not a member of the Ward family but am interested in finding information about an Anna Bell Ward who lived in the New York area in 1919.The reason for my interest is I have a framed diploma belonging to Anna which she received from the National Academy of Music in New York City.I can't find any information on the school so I assume it either no longer exists or exists under a different name.Either way I have been unable to find any history of it.What makes the diploma so fascinating is the fact that several famous composeres and authors have signed it, who were once instructors at this school. The date on the diploma is March 3, 1919 and some of the signers include Clarence Lucas, Irenee Berge, WJ Baltzell and Homer Bartlett. One of them is the grandson of a signer of the Declaration of Independence. There are more and some that I cannot make out the signatures.I thought maybe someone knows about this woman and may have some information about her life and this school.Any help would be appreciated.
