The document concerns the bankruptcy of Charles Hogg who has filed a petition for the liquidation of his affairs. Creditors meetings have then been held at the Angel Hotel, Wetherby, and the creditors are to receive promissory notes signed by Charles Wardman and Matthew Thomlinson for 8/-d (eight shillings) in every pound owing. Charles Hogg also owes mortgages on two pieces of land and Wardman and Thomlinson will assume responsibility for these mortgages.
In return, all the real and personal estate of Charles Hogg is to be made over to Charles Wardman and Matthew Thomlinson. This conveyance is for two pieces of land as follows, both in the township of Linton, Parish of Spofforth, Yorkshire.
