Re: Betty Wardman, Martha Wardman-North Bierley
Unfortunately cannot definately confirm connection at this stage. I have loads more research to do on the Wardmans based on the Marriage of Henry Wardman (b1857 in Tong) & Rhoda Emily Whitehead b1859.Henry's father is believed to be Abraham (Abram) b1826 d1895. They went on to have nine children that I know of:-
Edith b1881 married George Johnson
Vera Gertrude b? Married Percy Armes
Percy William b1885 married Alice Clayton (Went to Canada)
Leonard b1890 married Ellen?
Norman Henry b1896 (went to Canada married an Indian girl)
May Wardman b1899 only lived 5 hours
Douglas b1901 b1901 married Vera?
Alice Maude b1882 married Arthur Percy Grimshaw
I have a lot of background information on these family members (left to me by by my late Aunt - Joan Crawford for me to research more)they appear to have lived around North Bierley, Featherstone and Crofton.Henry and Rhoda were licensees at the Cock and Crown, Crofton and also at some time had a Wine & Spirits shop at the corn of Green Lane in Featherstone before 1890's.
I also see in the notes of my Aunt that she thinks that it is very likely John & Hannah Wardman of Slack Side (1841 census) were the parents of Abraham and that he started work at an early age and left home due to the overcrowding at Slack Side.
But,I am still heavily involved with researching the Grimshaw side at the moment but will come back to the Wardman's when I have a bit more time on my hands unless there is an obvious connection we can see.
