Re: Ann Wardman born c.1799
Hello Simon, In my records on the Wardmans I have John 1800 June 8th christened at All Saints, Ripley(this is one of the churches used by the Killinghall parishoners) which reads as follows: born May 1st John son of Francis son of Samuel Wardman of Killinghall and Mary daughter of John Carr of Hampsthwaite.
1792 20 August at St Thomas a Beckett church, Hampsthwaite(This was the other church that Killinghall parishioners would use) Francis Wardman flaxdresser married Mary Carr both of this parish by banns witnesses: Thos Thackeray and John Carrvicar T.M Shann
I think that Francis was the son of Samuel Wardman christened 25th July 1767 at Ripley
Samuel Wardman married Eleanor Benson of Little Ouseburn on 26th February 1744 at Ripley
I think that Samuel was the son of George Wardman butcher christened at Hampsthwaite 28th June 1719
I think that George married Mary Mountain 15th April 1706 at All Saints, Otley (not far, if you can look on a map)
George had another son George christened 28th Mar 1711 of Killinghall - he is one of my direct ancestors!
I have still more information if you think that these are who you are looking for. Regards Daphne p.s. a lot of other researchers have come to the same conclusions as my thoughts!
