Dan, the Martina and Sophia Gustashaw (Gustashok,Kostichak,Kostisak,Gusteashock)that you mention were sisters of my grandfather, Michael Gustashaw, who resided in West Mifflin, PA.They were the children of George (b.1850) and Anna(Winters)Gustashaw. The 1900 census lists the last name as Gustashok residing in Mifflin Township.A 1900 Mifflin Township Public School Report has Michael and brother George Gusteashock listed. I believe that another brother, Stephen, retained the Gusteshaw spelling. I have a couple of references to the Kostisak, or variant spelling. My grandfather's baptismal certificate has the name spelled Kosticek with Kostishak in brackets. My mother's baptismal certificate from 1915 has the name as Kostisak. My conjecture is that the Slovak priest didn't like the anglicized version - Gustashaw.Any information on the George(b.1850) or Anna(Winters) and the Kostichak,Kostishak,Kosticek spelling would be appreciated. Thanks, John.
