Re: Warhurst-Gee connection
I have been keeping all Warhurst info that I come across and a Margaret Weaver contacted me - i sent her as much as I could and I am sure you belong also to her connections.
At first she did not think you belonged but she seems to have changed her tune and would like to contact you.
Passing on the message below.
This does not sound like my lot.Though I am only about four miles away from Mellor, if it is the same place, there is now the Little Mill Inn, the only pub in Mellor.Compstall is about 6 miles away from Mellor, if that is Compstall Bridge that you refer to. Mellor and Compstall are probably over the hill from each other, though in different counties/administrattive areas, not sure. Will be in touch again.

The Warhurst family James in Compstall Bridge were very wealthy figures - they ran the Spring Garden Hotel which was a great tourist attraction in the area.
James passed it on to his son Caleb -sadly it no longer exists but in its heyday it must have been very beautiful - foundinformation in An Away Day in Marple by (Geoff)
PS seems I know more about other people's family than I do my own. JS
