Leon WARNIES, b. 16-02-1835 Holland

By Nora Hamel July 08, 2000 at 06:24:06

Is there anyone with more info on the WARNIES family tree.My Great-great grandfather was Leon WARNIES.He was born in The Netherlands 16-02-1835, his mother was named Eugenie Warnies. In 1840 mother & child moved to Paris. In 1870 he married & moved to Rio de Janeiro in 1872. In 1875 they returned to Amsterdam with the intention of showing off their newly-modified Street organs.Amsterdam is famous for it's Street Organs today and Leon Warnies is responsible for their creation. There is a museum in Utrecht, The Netherlands dedicated to his Street Organs.Today, his children carry on the family tradition. You will see many street organs with the names of Mohlmann & Perlee on them.I am very proud of his accomplishment and would like to trace some more of his background.Thank you, Nora (Warnies) Hamel
