Re: Henry Willis married to Mildred Washington?
Ann Willis was born 14 Sep 1731. In 1744 Hancock Lee was
named as her guardian with Anthony Strother as security
according to Crozier. Ann died by 18 Oct 1804. She married
as his 2nd wife, Duff Green who died in 1766 in Fauquier Co.
VA. Duff Green may have been the nephew of William Duff who
purchased land from Charles Willis (son of John Willis, Sr.)
in 1714-15 and 1719.
Ann was the daughter of Henry Willis, but her mother was
another Mildred, whom Henry married as second wife, on 30
October 1726, according to Bible records. This Mildred's
surname is somewhat uncertain, some claiming it to be Howell, others, Lewis. It is said she was the widow of Dr.
John Brown, but no documentation. Lewis seems to be more likely, as a deed in 1730 from Henry Lewis to John Lewis of
Gloucester County and Charles Lewis of New Kent County exists and this same land was later deeded by John Willis
(the younger), son of Henry and this Mildred, shown in Spotsylvania Co. Deed Book B:133.
Bible records show that Henry Willis married Mildred (Washington) Gregory on 5 Jan 1733-4.

a marvelous little book, with much data.
Hope this helps!
