Watermans in Islington/London
I am interested in hearing from any descendants of the following Waterman family that lived in the Islington/Holloway road area of London:
George Waterman married Mary Ann Powell 1845 at St. Mary, Hornsey. She was born about 1815 & died after 1871. We know nothing about george as we cannot find him on the 1841/51 census. He died before 1861, and there is a burial for a George Waterman in St.Mary's in 1854.
They had 5 children that we know of:
1)Louisa Waterman (1845-1898 married William Curtis)
2)Ann Elizabeth Waterman(1846-d.after 1861)
3)Harriet Waterman(1849-1904 married Alfred Burnett 1869)
4)George Waterman (1851-1914 married Mary Ann Masters 1876, but doesn't appear to have had any children)
5)Mary Ann Waterman (1854-? maybe died as an infant)
There is also another child Henry Waterman on the 1861 census, aged 3, but may be illegitimate as George Waterman had probably died before this child was born. This child then disappears.
Robert Waterman, born 6th November 1864 & died 1926 in Islington, was the son of Louisa Waterman. She married William Curtis at St.John Upper Holloway in September 1865. Robert is on the census first as Robert Curtis but is registered and baptised as Waterman and when older reverts to his mothers name of Waterman. He is probably not William Curtis's son.
Robert married Mary Ann Small at St. Barnabas, Islington in Feb 1889. They had the following children:
1)Mary Elizabeth Waterman (b.1890-d.1890)
2)Lucy Waterman (b.1891-d.after 1901)
3)George Robert Waterman (b.1893-d.after 1901)
4)Louisa Waterman (b.1896-?)
5)'Lula'(?) Waterman (b.abt.1898-after 1901)
6)Mary Ann Waterman (b.1898-d.after 1926 she married Fred Riches 1919 & had at least 2 children)
7)William James Waterman (b.1899-d.after 1901)
8)Louisa Waterman (b.1901-d.?)
9)Edward Waterman (b.1902-d.?)
If any of these details tie up with your family please get in contact, thanks.
