CONFUSED - NEED HELP IN 1600's

Could SKS please help with the descendency of this Waterman line.Every source I have researched on the internet gives different info. I can't piece these people together....My family info says this:
Robert Waterman (b.1608)m. Elizabeth Bourne
Robert's pts. were Thomas (b. abt.1600)and Lydia Chadwick
HOWEVER, other sources say Robert married Mary Bird and NOT Lydia Chadwick. None of the birth, death and marriage dates match up. I have a Thomas Waterman married to Miriam Tracy but each generation on the paternal side, going BACK from this Thomas, is totally confusing! And, the info on www.familysearch.org didn't help either. HELP!
