I am searching for information on the following Wattis line:
John A Wattis (1826-1854), born in London, England, came to the United States about 1842. Married Sarah "Sally" Hendricks (1829 - 1906) in Utah in 1848. Went to Missouri where John died. They has three children - John Allen (1849 - 1885), Sarah Ellen (1850-1851), and Louise Blake (1852-1854).
Following John's death, Sarah Hendricks Wattis went to Webster Parish, Louisiana, where she remarried to Peyton Lunsford (1830-1878). They had four children.
John Allen Wattis (surviving child of John A and Sarah) married Nancy Catherine Pope (1857-1921) and they had two children - Cora Amelia (1884-1956) and Jordan Edmond (1877-1939).
Jordan Edmond married Mattie Alice Hyde (1881-1974) of Webster Parish. They had three children - Telton Elvin (1902-1979), Ethel Amelia (1905-1976) and Mary Gladys (1908-?).
The family appears to have been in the Cotton Valley area of Webster Parish for many years. Some of them are buried in the Cotton Valley Cemetery (also referred to locally as Airport Cemetery).
Please reply here and contact me if you have any information on this line. Thank you.
