Caswell County, NC records show that Garrett Watts is a son of William Watts who moved his family from Charlotte County, VA.Garrett states, in his pension application, they moved when he was twelve.
Other records show Garrett's mother to be named Mary, but we have no proven surname.
Caroline County, VA is 500 miles from any territory claimed by the Cherokee. If fact, according to old maps, there were six other tribes between the two locations.
One key point is that Garrett was a Revolutionary War soldier. The Cherokee fought on the British side.
We have Y-DNA from Gattett's line and matching Y-DNA from his brother, Henry. The Haplogroup is E1b1b1, a European Y-DNA.
If you are a descendant of Garrett, e-mail me and I'll invite you to our Y-DNA site where we have at leas TEN know Watts lines matching that Y-DNA.We're trying to determine how these diverse lines are related.
