Re: Weatherwax reunion NY
Yes we do try to hold a yearly reunion in NY state. The location in NY changes. Each year one of us Weatherwax's
acts as chairperson and organizes the location etc. Its just like a family picnic. There is no one to notify as our
group has no formal organization. But you can email me around the end of May each year, and I will add you to the list for email info on the current reunion.
2 years ago the family in Washington state had an excellent reunion.
I am aware the the spelling of WITHERWAX is used other than in LA., but that family also descends from Jeremiah's parents as well.
There are also families in southern CT who use the same spelling. No one spelling is right/wrong but are probably the rsults of years of family migration through out the US.
WEATHERWAX/WETHERWAX/WITHERWAX are still the most common in use
Jeremiah Weatherwax b: 5 Mar 1825,bapt 6 Mar 1825,Albany NY
was the son of:
Leonard Weatherwax b:22Feb1799,d:1858 and his wife; Maria Loeb or Lape.
I also show a reference that his name was also Jerimiah J. Witherwax. he married:
Elcian Richardson on 12 Jun 1853
their children were:
1. Joseph Leonard b:May1854
2. Henry b: 25 Aug 1856
3. E. Walter Braten b: 7 Jun 1858
4. Perry b:C1859
5. Dottie Merritt b:14 Oct 1871
6. Albert b:c1872
7Dockey Burton b: 14 Nov 1875
I show Jerimiah's death: Nov.1901 in Iowa, Louisana
If this matches with what you have I can give you this line back to the immigrant ancestor who arrived in NY Colony in 1710
Jeremiahs parents are buried in Rensselaer co.,NY in the WEATHERWAX Cemetery on Binck Farm road. This was the site of his fathers farm.
