Coles G. Weatherwax
Due to a misreading of a family bible record on my part, Cates C. Weatherwax is in fact Coles G. Weatherwax. He was the youngest son of Alexander A. Weatherwax and his first wife, Ruth STEARNS. Coles was born 26 May, 1821, probably in the Town of Glenville, Schenectady Co., NY and died 9 January, 1859 in Dutchess Co., NY. He, his wife and the majority of his children are buried in the Wurtemburg Cemetery, Town of Rhinebeck, Dutchess Co., NY.
Coles' wife was Margaret L. CHEESEMAN (c1829-headstone broken off/death date unknown). Their children were Josiah H. Weatherwax (c1844-1859), Margaret M. Weatherwax (c1847-1870), Ephraim B. Weatherwax (c1849-?)and Mary Elizabeth Weatherwax 1857-1859). As far as I know, son Ephraim was the only surviving of this family. He married Luella M. FITCH and they had one son. James Walter Weatherwax was born 7 December, 1877 in South Dakota. He married Lillian May PINES 18 April, 1906 in Black Hawk, IA. They had five children between 1907 and 1919. They were divorced before the 1930 USC.
If anyone reading this is a descendant, please contact me.
Coles' father, Alexander A. Weatherwax, was my great great grandfather's eldest brother.
