Vera E Bean Weber - Chicago
I'm seeking contact with descendants of Vera E ( Eva ? ) Bean. She was the daughter of Theron and Sarah, brother of Carl Chauncey and Donald Eckhart and neice of prominent Chicago businessman, politician and philanthropist, Bernard Albert Eckhart.
I'm a grandson of Carl Chauncey and have one of our two Bean / MacBean lines back to 1400, the other back to 1750.
Carl, Donald and Vera's grandparents were both Beans.
The grandmother's line traces to our first Scottish ancestor to come to the USA in 1652 and his ancestors of Kinchyle, Inverness-Shire, Scotland to 1400.
The grandfather's line can only be traced to 1750. The records beyond that were either lost or destroyed in a fire or flood or something. However, both of these lines trace to New Hampshire to two areas no more than 55 miles away from each other and it is widely excepted that this grandfather's grandfather was the grandson, gr-grandson or gr, gr-grandson of the same grandmother's ancestor that arrived in 1652.
This would make them distant cousins and it remains a mystery, if this is indeed fact, which of the sons of this immigrant the granfather's line emanates from.
The Eckhardt / Eckhart line is less documented but I have been in contact with someone who seems to have details to the 1700's. Perhaps Bernard Albert Eckhart's descendants have shared some info with you that I would very certainly be interested in to fill out that part of the family tree.
I would like to fill out the tree regarding Donald & Vera and also share what I have with the descendants of both. I have little to no knowledge at all of either Donald or Vera. I do know that at some point Donald was in the restaurant business in Santa Rosa, CA but other than that, they and their descendants are a mystery.
Since posting the above, I came across a copy of The Illini Journalist from 1931 with the following entry :
WEBER, Raymond J, BS 23; MP J; CPA; married in 24 to Vera E Bean(AB 23); son, R J jr 2; practicing journalism and advertising 7 years; present position, instructor at Northwestern University, advertising writer, McJunkin Advertising company, 228 N LaSalle st Chicago; home, 7013 Bidge blvd Chicago, 111
Once I saw that name it triggered a memory. I am fairly certain that I remember the name Weber from when I was a kid and I think I remember my dad referring to them as Ray & Vera so I'm pretty sure that this is the right Vera Bean. They had two children that I found in the census of 1940, Raymond Jr. and Alice.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone on this family.
Thanks, Brian Bean
