I just wanted you to know how much I enjoyed reading your other book, 'Unruly Women'.Most scholarly books tend to be on the dry side, but your book, I am happy to say, was the exception.
Indeed, it was a treat to read! And for anyone who wishes to gain a greater understanding of what life was life for all classes of people during the antebellum period, I highly recommend that they read 'Unruly Women'.Indeed, thisbook is most enlightening.A world of subcultures that I never considered existed. I truly understand why your book'Unruly Women' was awarded "Winner of the 1994 Best First Book Award". In addition, many of the surnames that you record are familiar to me, as these were families whose lines were allied with many Wilburns/Welborns.
Hurleys, Adcocks, Sheltons to name a few....
Subsequently,I am extremely eager to read your latest book 'Free State of Jones', which I understand will be out this month.
