Welder family of York, Pa
I am looking for information on George Welder and the only information I have seen is the 1840 Census of York County, Penn. My 2G Grandmother, daughter of George, was Rebecca Welder born 1823 but do not know where. Census has her being born in Penn. She had a sister, Christiana also. I am pretty sure that Rebecca was my 2G Grandfather's James Osborn's second wife. Jane Eliza Cyphert was his first.
James left Penn for Ohio in 1843. Rebecca and Christiana stayed behind because their Father George was in ill health. I can only assume at this point that he died around early 1844 as Rebecca, her sister, her sister's boy friend, Benjamin Hoover and several other siblings went west to join James. James and Rebecca married in Savannah, Richland County, Ohio in 1844. Christiana married her boyfriend about five years later.
Jsmes andRebecca moved in 1857 or so to Henry County, Ohio and lived the rest of their lives there. They had 8 children. The last two were twin girls.
I would like to know more about the Welder family as of this moment, I do not know much at all. Any help out there, please??
The 1840 York County census lists them but there is no females over 30 listed, so I am assuming the wife and mother of the two girls may have passed away by this time.
Willing to exhange information with anyone knowing about the Welders of Penn or the later Hoovers of Napoleon, Ohio.
Thanks again. Earl.
