Wendell.His real name was John Jones.He enlisted under that name initially.He deserted soon afterwards and later re-enlised, possibly for the bounty that was offered under the name of John C. Wendell.He definitely did have connections to the Wendell family of the Herkimer, Montgomery and Otsego county areas of New York.I have much more information on all of this if interested.
