Grandfather, Abraham Groff, miller, lived at W.Earl township, died 3/4/1885, aged 78. He married Hettie Wenger who died in 1852, aged 35. Both buried at Groffdale cemetery. They had children; Daniel W.; Abram W.; Maria who married John Graybill of Upper Leacock township; Martin W.; Samuel W; Christian W., of West Earl; Hattie of Reading who married Peter Snyder.

Father, Samuel W. was born in W. Earl on 5/19/1839, married 12/22/1864 to Susannah Sprecher, they had one son, William S. Groff

Susannah (Sprecher) Groff was born in Earl Township on 11/3/1841, d/o William and Susannah (Wenger) Sprecher who were natives of Earl and Upper Leacock township respectively. Children of William and Susannah; Elizabeth of New Holland; Susannah wife of Samuel Groff; Maria, wife of George Groff of Bareville; George of Brecknock township; William of W. Earl; John; Amanda; Louisa. William Sprecher is the son of George and Elizabeth (Sheaffer)Sprecher.Susannah (Wenger) Sprecher was the d/o Joseph Wenger.
