Hi, a family member just steared me to the sirnames section of the message boards for this web site...so this is my first night here.
In my family tree I have a William T Werner, b:about 1833 in Pa...moved to Ohio, date unknown, reason for move unknown. In Ohio he married Mary C Mowrey b:about 1843 in Ohio. While living there they had three children:
Mary E. Werner b:about 1866
Edwin E. Werner b:about 1867
Dora M. Werner b:about 1870
I have found this information on the 1880 census for Ohio.
then the family moved by way of covered wagon to Michigan, and eventually settled down in Ganges, Allegan County, Michigan. There they continued their family:
Anna E. Werner b:about 1873
James F. Werner b:about 1875
William Arlando Werner (Lanny) b:about 1879
John Wesley Werner b:14 April 1833d:10 May 1959
Chauncey L. Werner b:Dec 1887d:24 Feb 1888
I descend from the John Wesley Werner son.
I have a copy of a picture of William T. & Mary C. Werner...and also two photos of John Wesley Werner and his wife, Nellie Marie Lawton Werner.
My Werner line were farmers by profession, as noted in several census reports.Edwin and Lanny had farms in Allegan County in the same neighborhood as their father William T.John Wesley however, was so changed by the cold of winters, and the loss of two young brothers that died from the cold...that he became a tinsmith, and started his own business cleaning and repairing as well as building chimneys, furnaces and fireplaces. He didnt want to see anyone else cold again.
I have one surviving aunt of John Wesley's line...now in her 90's and she has an old Bible from the Werners in which she says Mary C Mowrey Werner wrote of the loss of those two boys to the cold..and harsh conditions after their move by covered wagon to Michigan.
I would like to find out more about William T Werner, and his ancestors..the place of his birth, his actual birth date, and any sibblings...and descendants there of that there might be.
Mary
