It was a small copy, and harder than heck to read, but this is what I saw. If anybody wants the original or to see the inventory list, go ahead and email me.
In the name of God, Amen, I Henry Wert of the township of Amwell, in the county of Hunterdon, state of New Jersey, being of sound mind and memory, calling to mind that it is appointed for all men once- to die do make and publish- this, my last will and testament, first, I commend my soul unto God that gave it, and my body to this earth to be buried in a decent Christian like manner by order of my executors herein after mentioned and as to such worldly estate as God hath blessed me with in this life I dispose of in the following manner; (VIZ) First I give and bequeath to my dear wife, Elizabeth Werts, my best feather bed and bed stand and all such bedding as she chooses to furnish it with and further it is my will that wife have the privilege of living in my dwelling house that I now at present live in with my son Elnathan, during her life if she chooses to live with him and he the said Elnathan, my son is to provide for my dear wife a comfortable living and my said son Elnathan shall give or cause to be given unto my dear wife during the time she lives with him. Twenty pounds of flax and six pounds of wool and if my dear wife should she cause to leave him he is then to pay her the sum of forty four dollars yearly and every year she doth not live with him and further it is my wish that my clock shall remain in my dwelling house during her life and also my drawers and and (sic) other bed for her ____ use after her decease they are to be sold by my executors, SECOND, I give unto my sons, Jacob Wert, ~ ~, Daniel Wert, Henry Wert, Peter Wert, the sum of one silver dollar each to be paid to them out of the sale of my moveable estate by my executors, it being the full proportion their shares of my estate they having received their lands in my life time. THIRD, I give I give unto my youngest son, Elnathan Werts, as is included in a deed of conveyance, by me to him with the appurtenances the---- belong – bearing date, the first day of February, 1799 it being my homestead farm which deed if not delivered by me in my life time shall be delivered to him immediately after my decease by my executors herein after named and I further give to my said son my stove now at present standing in my dwelling house, also I give to my said son, Elnathan Wert my best plow and harrow at present on my plantation likewise one silver dollar to be paid by my executors FOURTH I give unto my son George Wert the sum of twenty silver dollars to be paid to him by my executors herein after named as convenient after my decease out of the sale of moveable estate which sum is his full proportion of my estate real and personable.FIFTH all the ----ice of my estate both real and personal, not heretofor disposed of I order and direct my executors herein after named to dispose of the same at public vendues as soon as convenient after my decease and the money arising from the sale after paying my just debts and funeral charges I give and divide to my daughter (Viz) May, the wife of Abraham Slack, Prissily, the wife of JohnHiggins, Elizabeth, the wife of John Wite, to be collected and paid to them by my executors, share and share alike as soon as convenient and after my wife’s decease I order my executors to sell my clock, drawers, and the last mentioned bed at public sale, and the money from that sale arises to be divided amongst my daughters as for aforesaid, LASTLY, I constitute and appoint my son Elnathan Wert and John Higgins my sole executors of this my last will and testament, and I do hereby utterly revoke, disallow and disannul all former or other testaments, wills, devices, bequests, and executors ratifying, and confirming this to be my last testament and will.
