Re: George WESCOTT m. Molly Pettit, KY
Brenda, your query to which I'm replying is quite old, so I imagine you've already found the descendants you sought back in 2001, since so much more data is available online now. So it is more likely that you can help me than that I can help you.
All I haveis what is on Ancestry such as the census and Ky birth index records. In particular, there is a pretty lot on the descendants of their son Leonard Wescott who married Lela Lykins. But I did not know that George Andy Wescott's wife Mollie was a Pettit. Do you have a marriage record for them, or something else that lists her maiden name?
Mollie's gravestone in New Alfrey Cemetery says only Mollie Wescott, died 1915, but I have not been able to find a death record for her.
Elizabeth Pettit was the sister of my GG Grandfather Preston Pettit, which would make Mollie my 1st cousin 3 times removed.
Morgan County birth records list a Mary T. Petit, born 27 June 1878, father unknown, mother’s maiden name Elizabeth Pettit, born in Morgan Co.
I always thought it was a bit odd that Elizabeth would name a daughter Mary T. in 1878 when she already had a still living daughter Mary Jane born in 1865.
Do you think that birth record could be for the Mollie who married George Andy Wescott? George's wife Mollie was listed as age 19 born Apr 1881 in the 1900 census, and as age 30 in the 1910 census.
I have not been able to find Elizabeth or any of her children in the 1870 or 1880 censuses.
