Hi, Mary,
I just posted to another Lenham/Westover connection, but I will follow up with you also!!It looks like you have tons of information on this family.
I recently discovered a Westover connection, through my husband's line.HIs gggrandfather, Richard Dossett, married George's daughter, Harriet. She was a spinster who seemed to have the responsibility of caring for everyone else and even finding time to find employment as a dressmaker. She married Richard in 1880 when they were both about 60.He had returned to his native Wandsworth, but he and his family lived many years in Kent.
I am not connected to Harriet by blood but I do have some information based on some recently published census data on ancestry. It appears that she is the 2nd or 3rd wife of Richard; data suggests that his first/second wife/wives could have been Frances and Eliza/Elizabeth, or possibly Eliza Frances; it's not clear.
I do believe based on the census records that I have the correct Harriet, and that she never married until the 1880 marriage.
I am intrigued by this line. For many many decades, my husband's family had misinformation about his ggrandmother and her roots. She was an unwed mother and refused to reveal the identity of her son's father. She relocated to Wandsworth where she had her son and worked for some years as a laundress prior to marrying. Her name was Emily Dossett (b. 1845) and was Richard Dossett's oldest child. She was born in Brighton but they relocated to this part of Kent, which must be where he met Harriet. Richard was an engine driver.
Let me know what you think!!
Sincerely,
Alyson Dossett
