Hello,I found your message and I am the daughter of Allen Junior Wheelock, who was raised in Elk Point, South Dakota. He had 3 brothers--Orlando, Harold(nicknamed Bub), and Lloyd and 3 sisters--Genevieve (married to Don do not know last name, but owned a motel near the Black Hills, SD, Lucille(married last name was Satterly(sp?)and she lived in Renton, WA--they owned a laundry, and a sister Minnie. We grew up in Illinois--Kewanee and Princeton. We used to go to Elk Point about every other year when I was a small child to visit with my granpa--who was very old(Allen Boyd Wheelock--died when he was 91, I believe). My Uncle Harold lived with him and took care of him until his death.Grandpa used to give us dimes on every visit. He saved them in Doan's Pills metal containers. They had no indoor plumbing until after grandpa's death and Harold married a woman from Missouri, named Bertha. Back to early days---Orlando was married to Loretta and they had 9 or 10 kids.Their two youngest were in high school when I was a child--their names were Ronnie and Gloria.Other kids were Patricia who lived in Indiana, Arlen, Gilbert, Edgar who used to be somewhere in CA, Barney, Elaine, and Coke(mom said they called him that; she cannot remember his real name.Mom thinks there was another son. My dad, Allen Jr. Wheelock died this last year--May 1, 2004. He had 8 children--Roger Allen Boyd Wheelock (Princeton, ILL), me--Marilyn Coles (Fresno, CA), Carol Rennacker (Bettandorf, IA), Cathy Wheelock (Peoria, Ill), Bob Wheelock (Warrensburg, Ill), Maureen Koehler (Streator, ILL),Mark Wheelock (LaSalle, Ill)& Michelle Doan (Peru, ILL). Dad had 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren--with 2 more due in Feb. He was always a real family-oriented man--had the brightest blue eyes and best smile around. I did not know many of dad's relatives and have lost touch with everyone but my immediate family--would love to hear more about the generations that preceded him.
